Products

Palm Oil Mills

Palm oil is extracted from fresh fruit bunches (FFB) through a mechanical process that ensures the quality of crude palm oil. The primary products obtained in the palm oil mill are palm oil and palm kernel, with biomass as a secondary by-product.

The process stages in a palm oil mill consist of sterilization, stripping, digestion and pressing, clarification, purification, drying, and storage. For the kernels, the stages include nut/fiber separation, nut conditioning and cracking, cracked mixture separation, and kernel drying and storage. The dried kernels are further crushed through mechanical processes or solvent extraction to obtain crude palm kernel oil.

Pre-Engineered Buildings

Pre-engineered buildings (PEBs) are structures designed and manufactured off-site, offering significant advantages over traditional construction methods. The process involves creating the components in a factory and transporting them to the construction site for quick assembly, making them an efficient choice for a variety of applications, including industrial, commercial, and institutional buildings.

Rice Bran Solvent Extraction Plant

Rice bran is a by-product obtained during rice milling. It is the golden-reddish outer layer removed after husking and rice polishing. Rice bran contains 16-22% oil, which is recovered through a solvent extraction process. As rice bran is a floury material, it must be pelletized before solvent extraction.

The Solvent Extraction process involves injecting hexane into the oil-bearing material, creating a mixture of oil and solvent called miscella. Hexane in the miscella is later evaporated using a distillation unit, leaving unrefined oil. The evaporated hexane is condensed and recycled. Our innovative design techniques in continuous extractors and desolventizer toasters result in minimal hexane loss and have garnered client accolades. The by-product, known as de-oiled bran or de-oiled cake, is an excellent ingredient for cattle and poultry feed, as it contains proteins and other nutrients.

Soya bean Solvent Extraction Plant

Soybeans are the most processed oilseed, accounting for about 56% of oilseeds processed by solvent extraction plants. Each soybean is approximately 7% hull by weight. The hull is a paper-thin shell surrounding each seed, high in fiber and low in oil. It has a very low density unless ground finely, and thus occupies a lot of space in costly processing equipment. Being low in oil, hull extraction is less profitable, and it is also low in protein. When removed early in the process, the extracted meal has a higher protein content and market value.

For these reasons, one of the initial steps in soybean processing is often dehulling. Removing about 90% of the 7% hull reduces the extraction volume, lowers desolventizing energy, increases the protein percentage of the meal, and provides a by-product with some value—the hulls.

This dehulling function is usually integrated with other preparation systems to crack, heat, and flake the material, preparing it for solvent extraction. The dehulling process and other preparation steps are outlined below:

Soybean Preparation Steps

  • Cracking: Each soybean is cracked into 4-8 pieces using sharp serrated rolls. Cracks should be large enough to allow effective distortion during flaking, but not so large as to reduce flaker capacity or require excessive power.
  • Dehulling: Primarily done to improve meal protein levels. It also reduces the amount going to extraction and increases density in the extractor, leading to more retention time.
  • Conditioning: Material sent to flakers should be about 158°F (70°C), with final flakes at the extractor around 147-154°F (64-68°C) and 9-10% moisture.
  • Flaking: Flaking breaks cell structure to release oil, easing extraction. For shallow-bed extractors, flakes should be approximately 0.012" to 0.015" (0.30-0.38 mm), and for deeper beds, around 0.013" to 0.017" (0.33-0.43 mm).
  • Expanding: Flakes are heated and formed into larger, denser collets. Expanding reduces residual oil and facilitates solvent penetration during extraction.
  • Cooling: The soybean collets are cooled to stabilize them before being conveyed to the extraction section, ensuring structural integrity and quality for oil extraction. With properly prepared soybean material and adequate extraction time, it is often possible to achieve around 0.35-0.60% residual oil.

Cotton Seed Solvent Extraction Plant

Cottonseed, a by-product of the cotton ginning operation, is covered with fibrous lint. The cottonseed primarily consists of an inner kernel, usually called "meats." This meaty portion contains all the oil as well as proteins, and it is enclosed in the fibrous hull. The hulls protrude over the cotton fibers that escape the ginning process and are left on the seeds. These cotton fibers are referred to as "lint."

The inner kernel can be planted, fed to livestock, made into cottonseed oil for human consumption, used as fertilizer, or utilized in products like lotions and soap. The lint obtained from cotton delinting has wide applications in the cotton blanket, sweatshirt, paperboard industry, and cotton pulp, among others. Therefore, the cottonseed delinter is essential in cotton processing.

Palm Kernel Solvent Extraction Plant

Palm Kernel is obtained during palm fruit processing. Palm kernel itself is a hard seed and it is to be cracked and decorticated prior to recovery of the oil. Palm kernel contains more than 45% oil. Palm kernels are first subjected to mechanical pressing in the oil mill with the help of screw presses or by using extruder where portion of oil is recovered, the resultant palm kernel cake containing 14 to 16% oil is subjected to solvent extraction for recovery of balance oil.

Sunflower Solvent Extraction Plant

A sunflower solvent extraction plant processes sunflower seeds to extract oil, utilizing a series of stages for maximum efficiency. The process begins with below stages

Seed Cleaning: The first step involves cleaning the sunflower seeds to remove foreign materials such as stones, dust, and plant debris. This ensures that impurities do not interfere with subsequent processing stages.

Dehulling: The cleaned seeds undergo dehulling, where the outer hulls are removed. This process is crucial as the hulls contain minimal oil and their removal increases the oil yield from the kernels.

Cracking: The dehulled seeds are then cracked into smaller pieces. This is typically achieved using mechanical crushers that create uniform fragments, enhancing the efficiency of the extraction process.

Conditioning: The cracked seeds are conditioned by heating them to a specific temperature (usually around 70–80°C) and adjusting their moisture content. This step is vital as it prepares the seeds for oil extraction, making the oil more accessible.

Expelling: In this stage, the conditioned seeds are fed into expellers, which apply high pressure to extract the oil. The expelling process can produce a significant amount of oil while leaving behind sunflower seed cake, which contains approximately 7-10% residual oil.

Cooling: The resultant cake is cooled and then conveyed to the extraction section

Groundnuts Solvent Extraction Plant

Peanut oil (arachis oil) is an organic material oil that derived from peanuts, noted to have the aroma and taste of its parent legume. They are further low in saturated fatty acids and rich in mono saturated fatty acids, thus making it a healthier option.

Peanuts / Groundnuts are first decorticated to remove the husk. The kernels so obtained have an oil content in excess of 48%. The kernels are subjected to mechanical extraction with the help of screw presses. The resultant cake has residual oil content varying from 8 to 12% depending on the extent of pressing. The pre-pressed cake is subjected to solvent extraction process for recovery of the residual oil.

Vegetable Oil Refineries

The vegetable oil refining process is essential to ensure that oils extracted from various oil-bearing seeds, grains, and nuts are safe, palatable, and suitable for consumption. Common sources include rice bran, cottonseed, palm, peanut, soybean, sunflower, rapeseed, and specialty oils from almonds, cashews, and shea. The refining process removes impurities that affect the quality and usability of the oils.
